Megan's Way and Pieces of Me
I have been working with a wonderful screenplay writer, Jill, and we've put together an film adaptation of Megan's Way which really highlights Megan's relationship with Olivia, her teenage daughter, and grows the part of Olivia--you'll really see her shine! We've changed the title to Pieces of Me, which I feel suits Olivia's story a bit more appropriately.

What's your fix?
Today marks day 9 of our vacation. We've had a fabulous time, and it's been a full year since I have been able to really relax. It's also been a year since the publication of Megan's Way, and I am very thankful for all of the kind reviews from readers and interest from book clubs! It was the memory of receiving my first copies of Megan's Way lingering in my mind, I believe, that led me to my need to write this afternoon.
Megan's Way in Hagerstown Magazine
The thrill of seeing my book featured in a magazine never wears off. A few months ago I was interviewed by a lovely woman who writes for Hagerstown Magazine, Cheryl Keyser. Cheryl was a joy to speak with, and I was happy to see that she included Megan's Way in the July/August issue of the magazine. She had very kind things to say about me as an author, though she did note that I'd been writing for fifteen years, and really I had been waiting about fifteen years to write. I wish I'd been writing fifteen years! I craved the time to write for what seems like a lifetime.
Screenplay and queries
Today two great things happened today. I received my first rejection based on having too many agents interested in my manuscript, The Knowing--too much competition for the agent. That's a first! I thought authors were supposed to be the ones who shied away from competition. How funny is that? Ah, well, spin it positive--take it as a compliment! The second great thing that happened was that the screenplay adaptation of Megan's Way was submitted for consideration. It's a nerve wracking feeling to send your work (and along with it, your hopes) out into the world.
Happy thoughts
Anyone who knows me knows that I am drawn to happy thoughts and happy people, and that I try to help people who aren't happy to smile and be happy. Hence, the name Thinkhappy on The Women's Nest. I see quotes all of the time on Facebook and Twitter. Some quotes deserve to be repeated--many times and by as many people as possible. Today I'm passing along one of those quotes.
Borrowed from my friend Donna Aviles, a children's author (I have no idea where she heard the quote, but I'm thankful for it).
Memories are treasures
There are times in life when my senses are alerted by something unexpected--a sound, a smell, the touch of the breeze on my arm--and my mind drifts away to another time. Today I experienced one of those pleasant subtle nudges. My two youngest boys were playing outside with a friends, and their laughter carried through the closed window, faint highs and lows of young boys happiness. I sat up and listened, smiled, and the image of my two oldest boys playing in a plastic pool when they were one and three came back to me.
